Boot Cover
I initially tried to secure this to the chassis with rivnuts, but things initially didn't go well. Suffice to say I managed to put a fairly large scratch on the rear wing when I slipped with a screwdriver! It was late, I was tired and this was the last straw. At this point I gave up for the night and went indoors feeling very grumpy. When I revisited this, I came up with another method. C'est La Vie as they say. It's all finished now and I'm fairly happy with the result. The scratch however, remains - Ouch!

Exhaust Heatshield
As I suspected, I was unsure as to the suitability of this for SVA, so I swapped it out for a piece of plain aluminium sheet.

Firewall
This is also just about finished and I'm very happy with how this has turned out.

The Final Countdown
Well I can't really believe it but the car's nearly finished and ready for SVA! I sent off the paperwork for this (choosing Beverley, as it's the nearest SVA Station) and also the relevant forms to the DVLA (Leeds Local Office) in order to get the car registered. There was however still a whole host of items still to do or finish off. Here's the list:

 • Spare Wheel Cover Plate
 • Bottom Hose - Secure
 • Handbrake - Adjust
 • Exhaust - Edge Trim
 • Clutch Cable - Heatshield
 • Glovebox Lock & Hinge
 • Finish Dash Padding
 • Engine Bay Electrics - Tidy & Secure
 • Rear Number Plate
 • Front Number Plate - Hide Bonnet Hinges
 • Seat Strapping
 • Fit Seats & Seatbelts
 • Fit Mirrors
 • Kill Switch Shroud
• Seal Bootlid & Windscreens Supports
• Steering Wheel & Boss
• Steering Column Locktabs (19ftlb on Spline)
• Heater Slide Control Cover
• Chassis Number Plates
• Fluid Levels
• Underside painting
• Handbrake Cable Hangers
• Various Edge Trimming
• Carpet & Trim
• Chequer Plate for the footwell floors
• Brake Fluid Leak (N/S Rear)
• Silicone all Nuts & Screws

Whilst working through the above list, I received a letter from VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency). I have a date for SVA - 4th May. I also received (cutting a long story short) notification from Leeds DVLA, of a 'Build Up Inspection' date for 21st May.

I booked the car in for an 'MOT Style' Safety Check towards the end of April at my local garage. Whilst this wasn't a mandatory requirement, I wanted this carried out on the car so that I'd be more comfortable knowing it would be safe to drive the 53 miles to Beverley & back. The garage pointed a few minor things I'd overlooked, so it was a very worthwhile exercise! In addition, one of the Keighley Hoodies also offered to come and give the car the once-over. He also pointed out some SVA related items that I should attend to - Thanks Peter!

I now have a deadline to work to. Of course, it would be fantastic to pass SVA first time but I'm under no illusions that the SVA is (and rightly so) a very strict and thorough examination. Fingers crossed. Again, I've been very happy with my progress over the past couple of months (all things considered). Time's rolling on apace though. Sorry, no more words for now - I'm off to the garage!
